ANSWERS YOUR QUESTIONS
Question for a marriage counselor We are making repairs, but they don't seem to hold. When is it time to call in an expert (marriage/relationship counselor)?

Marriage Counselors reply

Relationships ebb and flow and, with time, couples come to understand their very idiosyncratic rhythms. A disastrous fight for one couple can be 'business as usual' for another. However, if you feel out of sync for months—rather than days—just a few (3-5) sessions with a good counselor can put you both back on track—or, at least let you know what shape your marriage is really in. Long married couples sometimes talk about a bad year—and, they mean it; a whole year where they didn't get along. Don't suffer needlessly if your good intentions keep turning sour. Get help.
