I think we need couple counseling while he thinks we're fine. How can I get him to go to marriage counseling with me when he doesn't want to? I think our marriage depends on it. |

You can't make someone go to counseling. Yet, it could be not what you ask but how you ask that is the problem here. If he thinks you want counseling so you can point out what he's doing wrong, there's little chance of his changing his mind. However, if you tell him that you know things could be better between you, you want to work at that, and you want guidance so you can feel better, he may go along. Use your own variation of these words that point out your desire to take responsibility for your role in the problems. If he refuses for whatever reason, consider going for individual counseling. It is completely true that, in many circumstances, one person can change the marriage for the better. At least you will get the support you clearly need. |
